Launch: Transforming Tensions Workshop Collection

While I've been preparing to share my favorite trainings and tools for navigating interpersonal tensions, I first had to grapple with my own internal tensions along the way.
Upcoming workshops, list of titles also in text below, and photo of Sara facilitator and Anjali Leon co-pilot.

Life has a way of presenting us with tensions - a sense that something could or should be different.

šŸ’”
Holacracy describes ā€œtensionsā€ as anything other than being neutral. They are a push or pull. Tensions could be challenges, a signal of potential conflict, and/or joyful opportunities.

I set my mind to seeing if I can make this freelance thing work. Perhaps unsurprisingly to you, there have been a few tensions that have come up in the process:

  • A flutter in my chest anxiously wanting to choose the ā€œrightā€ name for my business, letting me know to breathe, find another task for my inner ā€œjudgeā€ and open to creativity.
  • A spark of ā€œHuh. Hmmā€¦What ifā€¦?ā€ that called me to join in the National Novel Writing Month to write 50,000 words in November (I joined as a "rebel" writing non-fiction related to what I've learned from others over the years and more.)
  • My jaw tightening, trying to protect me, scared I may fail if I really put myself "out there" to launch a training and facilitation business.
  • And, feeling drawn to an opportunity to speak on a podcast and accept a colleagueā€™s invitation of support, resulting in needing to get my sh..tuff together and launch this thing!

That has been plenty to work with and grow from in the last months. I'm grateful for the support I've received through this process (partner, therapist, coach, mentor, writing partner, serendipity...).

Iā€™m delighted that I can now announceā€¦šŸ„šŸ„šŸ„

Upcoming Workshops

After 15 years of coordinating and facilitating trainings within my organizations, I am opening up to share the topics publicly! Iā€™m focusing on the workshops that have had the largest impact on individualsā€™ personal and professional journeys (including my own!), as well as shaping a team culture in which people can be themselves and work across enormous differences in worldview.

All sessions are LIVE and VIRTUAL with sliding scale prices (and bartering is welcome!). Details: https://buytickets.at/curiousways

āž” Get a taste of the series and take home the tools in the Transforming Tensions Toolkit Workshop Jan 18, Jan 24, or Feb 13.

āž” Explore how to collectively compost complaints in teams through ā€œTension Meetingsā€ at the Meet Up Feb 8th. (Related podcast will air Jan 20th!)

āž” Gain fresh ways of approaching interpersonal tensions in the Bridging Differences & Overcoming Polarization 3-part series starting Jan 31.

āž” Be more prepared the next time tensions escalate through Engaging Conflict Across Cultures & Power Differences 4-part series starting Feb 28.

Iā€™m delighted that my colleague Anjali Leon of PPL Coach will be joining me to co-pilot the two series!

I would love to have familiar faces join and grateful for those able to share with someone you think might be interested. Wish your colleagues had these skills? ;) Share with them as a professional development opportunity! And then join in too - because communication agility is a journey not a destination.

Rollercoaster cars against a blue sky, about to round a downward turn

Working toward this launch has felt like being on a rollercoaster slowly chugging up the hill, not able to see what is on the other side. Iā€™m strapped in and ready to whoosh down the hill to whatever turn is next.

Thank you hanging through the radio silence as I worked with my tensions and for accompanying me on this ride.

P.S. Stay tuned - coming in January ā€“ a Curious Ways Co website of my very own!
